Conversation Starters

Most photos and art work catch a viewers eye and it  becomes a personal experience.  A private conversation within occurs. Little or no interaction with another.  Then there are other subjects that just beg to be explained.  I call them conservation starters.  A client wanted to capture the essence of a golf trip to Ireland.  He offered a few score cards and a group photo as subjects of a story to be told.  Following is a description  of how the “story” was constructed. Initial layout. Gather all possible material to determine what will be included.

Additional elements added

Add background to set the stage (Turf)

Present the group photos as a focal point. Provide additional visuals ( pictures of golf courses played) to enhance the story of the score cards. Photoshop allowed to place the course logo in each course photo.

Provide matting to draw the eye of the viewer into the presentation. All matting and plaques raised to enhance depth of presentation.

Add a short narrative that includes the names of the participants in the main photos. Here, engraved plaques added to the richness of the piece. Plaques are hi-lighted with red background matting.

Select a frame that suggest “old time” golf.
