A client expressed interest in creating  a frame for a fifteen ft high vintage NYC subway scroll.  The frame pictured here was created from pieces of poplar lumber and constructed and painted in a manner so as not to reveal any connections.  Plexiglass, instead of glass, was used to reduce the total weight of the project.   The six plexiglass panels were connected with lead H channels (usually found in stained glass projects).  The vintage scroll was separated from the background by a 1/4” foam board to give the illusion it was floating. The background was created by heavy textured spray paint to give the appearance of typical subway station tiles.  The project was stabilized from the top with wire as it rested on a small “bench” to keep it off the floor.
